San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Tim Lincecum was called for a balk in the seventh inning that scored thew inning run for the Colorado Rockies as the Rockies defeated the Giants 3-2.  Giants manager Bruce Bochy was ejected for arguing the balk call as well.

With the loss, Lincecum is now 4-1 on the season.  He pitched well enough to pick up the win, but the offense was lacking on Tuesday night as they just couldn’t get that big hit they needed off of Aaron Cook.

Benji Molina and Aaron Rowand both had RBI’s for the Giants.  Both RBI’s came in the first inning when Molina doubled to center field and Rowand singled to left-center field.

Let’s see if the Giants can come back and beat the Rockies on Wednesday and put this game behind them.  What do you think?

The San Francisco Giants picked up a nice divisional win on Monday night as the defeated the Colorado Rockies by the score of 4-0.  With the victory over the Rockies, the Giants are now 12-15 on the season.

Matt Cain tossed 5.1 innings as he got the start on the mound for the Giants .  Cain picked up the win which was his first win of the season. Cain was a bit wild as he walked five batters, but he made sure that those walks didn’t come around to score which is the main thing.

Vinnie Chulk, Tyler Walker, and Brian Wilson finished off the Rockies to close out the game and preserve the shutout.

Aaron Rowand led the Giants at the plate with two RBI while Ray Durham and Rich Aurilia both had one RBI.  One thing I didn’t like in the game was that Giants stranded 23 runners on base.  They could have easily scored 8-9 runs in the game if they would have just put the ball in play a little bit more often.

It should also be noted that Barry Zito has lost his spot in the starting rotation and will now see some action out of the bullpen until he gets his control back and proves he can pitch six or seven innings in a ballgame without giving up four or five runs.

The San Francisco Giants were only able to come up with four hits against the San Diego Padres on Thursday night, but they made sure one of those hits was a home run.  Rich Aurilia’s home run in the seventh inning was the only run scored in the game as the Giants beat the Padres 1-0.

In a pitchers duel, Tim Linecum improved to 4-0 on the season as he tossed 6.1 innings and only allowed four hits.  Linecum lowered his ERA to 1.23 in the game as well.  Jack Taschner, Vinnie Chulk, and Brian Wilson all held the Padres scoreless for the final 2.2 innings of the game.  Wilson picked up his seventh save of the season.

On a night where the Giants hitters only got four hits, they only ended up needed the one off Aurilia’s bat in the seventh inning.  The home run was Aurilia’s first of the season.  It was a pretty poor offensive showing for the Giants.

Once again Barry Zito had a terrible pitching performance as he only lasted 3.2 innings as the Diamondbacks beat the Giants 5-4.  Zito gave up six hits and five earned runs in just over three innings.  Zito’s record is now 0-5 on the season.

Keiichi Yabu, Vinnie Chulk, and Tyler Walker all pitched in relief of Zito and did not allow a hit.  Great job by the bullpen, it was too bad they got put in such a big hole after Zito stunk it up.

Fred Lewis and Randy Winn both had two RBI each in the game.  Aaron Rowand struggled as he went 0-4 with three strikeouts.

The San Francisco Giants lost 4-2 on Monday against the Arizona Diamondbacks.  Arizona is a tuff team to beat this year and this was a hard match up for the struggling Giants lineup.  The Giants just couldn’t keep the Diamondbacks inside the ballpark as the D-backs hit three home runs in the game.

Kevin Correia was the opening pitcher for the Giants throwing for six innings and giving up eight hits, three runs, and two walks.  He was only able to strikeout two Arizona batters.  This loss put him at 1-3 for the year.  Merkin Valdez and Brad Hennessey were brought in to pitch the last two innings.  Valdez did allow one run to cross the plate while Hennessey pitched a scoreless inning.

The Giants scored in the second inning when Jose Castillo singled to center field and scored Aaron Rowand.  The scond Giants run came in the third inning when Fred Lewis hit a solo home run.

The Giants will face off against the Diamondbacks one more time tonight in Arizona before heading to San Diego to take on the Padres for a two game series.

The San Francisco Giants picked up the 8-2 win against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday putting them at 8-11 for the year.  The Giants have a lot of work to do to get back in the top standings but this win giving them the series win in St. Louis was a good start.

Jonathan Sanchez is now 1-1 after pitching five innings in the win against the Cardinals on Sunday.  He allowed only two hits and no runs during his time on the mound.  Keiichi Yabu, Merkin Valdez, and Vinnie Chulk were brought in to close out the night and seal the win over St. Louis.

John Bowker hit in his third home run of the season.  Bengie Molina led the Giants with three RBI,  Aaron Rowand and Bowker both had two RBI, while Ray Durham had one RBI.

The San Francisco Giants head to Arizona to take on the Diamondbacks on the road on Monday night.  A big win there would really help their season out a lot.  Picking up divisional wins is key, and the Giants still have time to get back into contention in the division. Do I think they will do it?  Nope…

The San Francisco Giants struggled against the Arizona Diamondbacks and their starting pitcher Brandon Webb on Wednesday afternoon.  The Giants were only able to manage one run in the game and only three total hits as they lost 4-1 You can’t win the ball game in most cases with one run and only three hits.

Eugenio Velez was the only Giants player to record an RBI in the game.  Velez doubled to left-center in the fourth inning to score Fred Lewis.  Other then that double, the Giants bats were silent as Webb dominated them for eight inning and then Brandon Lyon closed the door in the ninth inning.

As for the Giants pitching, Barry Zito took the loss which dropped his record to 0-4 on the season.  Zito didn’t have good command of the ball as he walked five batters, gave up five hits, and let five runs cross the plate.  Only four of the five runs were earned, not like it mattered anyways.

Vinnie Chulk and Merkin Valdez pitched the final three innings and did a good job.  Maybe the bullpen should have been called on earlier in the ballgame with Zito struggling so much.  What do you think Giants fans?

The San Francisco Giants got hammered by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday afternoon by the score of 8-2.  The Giants pitchers did not have their good stuff today, as every pitcher that pitched gave up atleast one earned run.

Starting pitcher Kevin Correia took the loss after pitching six innings and giving up five hits and five earned runs.  Correia’s record is now 1-2 on the season.  Brad Hennessey pitched two innings in relief of Correia and gave up three hits and two earned runs.  Erick Threets pitched one inning and gave up one earned run.

Aaron Roward and Jose Castillo had one RBI each for the offense.  That was all the offense the Giants could get off the Diamondbacks pitchers.

The San Francisco Giants were losing after Randy Johnson made his 2008 debut, but they scored two runs off the Diamondbacks bullpen in the 7th inning to win the game 5-4.  The Giants had some problems hitting off Johnson, but they got things figured out and eventually picked up the win to imprive their record to 6-8.

Keiichi Yabu pitched the 6th and 7th innings to pick up the win for the Giants.  Brian Wilson recorded his fourth save of the season.  Starting pitcher Jonathan Sanchez, gave up three earned runs and six hits in his five inning of action.

Randy Winn led all Giants batters with two RBI.  Aaron Rowand, Ray Durham, and Bengie Molina all chipped in with an RBI each as well.

The San Francisco Giants picked up a big win Thursday night as they beat the St. Louis Cardinals by the score of 5-1.  The Cardinals came into the game with a 7-2 record and playing some really good baseball but it was their first road game of the season and it showed.

The Giants bats put a lot of pressure on Adam Wainwright and Ron Villone during the game.  The middle of the lineup did most of the damage for the Giants as Aaron Rowand, Randy Winn, Bengie Molina, Jose Castillo, and Rich Aurilia all had one RBI.

Kevin Correia picked up the win after pitching 7.2 innings and not allowing a run to cross the plate.  He did give up five hits and two walks, but he struck out four batters.  Brad Hennessey was the only Giants pitcher to allow a earned run on the night.  Brian Wilson picked up his second save of the season in the game as well.
