The San Francisco Giants finished off the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday night with a 4-3 victory.  The Giants swept the Diamondbacks in the mid-week three game series as the Giants played very good baseball!

On Thursday night, it was Randy Winn’s home run in the top of the ninth inning that gave the Giants the win.  The game was tied until Winn hit a solo home run off of Chad Qualls for the game winner.  Winn finished the game with two rbi while Omar Vizquel added in one rbi.

On the mound for the Giants Tyler Walker improved to 3-3 as he picked up the win in the late innings.  Brian Wilson was able to secure the game and his 16th save of the season in the ninth inning.  Giants starting pitcher Barry Zito tossed six innings of six hit and three run ball.

Now will this momentum carry over into the weekend series with the San Diego Padres?

The Giants and Diamondbacks will be play once again on Thursday afternoon.

The San Francisco Giants blew a four run lead in the eighth and ninth inning as the Houston Astros came back to win 8-7.  The Giants gave up three home runs in the final two innings in the game as they lost a disappointing finale to the series.

Vinnie Chulk gave up the home run to Lance Berkman in the ninth inning to take the loss.  He is now 0-2 on the season.  Tyler Walker was the relief pitcher that had the most trouble though as he gave up three runs in only 2/3 of an inning.  Terrible job by the Giants bullpen today.

Tim Lincecum pitched six inning and allowed five hits and three runs to get the no decision in the game.

John Bowker led the Giants with three rbi while Aaron Rowand had two rbi.  Randy Winn had an rbi for the Giants as well in the game.

The San Francisco Giants lost to the Houston Astrosn 6-3 on Wednesday night as the Giants pitchers couldn’t slow down three Astros batters.  Lance Berkman, Brad Ausmus, and Miguel Tejada all had two rbi against Giants pitchers.  Three different Giants pitchers gave up runs in the game as well.

Patrick Misch tossed six innings of seven hit baseball to start the game.  He did allow three runs including one home run in the game as he got the no decision.  Jack Taschner pitched 2/3 of an inning in relief of Misch and allowed one run to score as he took the loss. Taschner is now 1-2 on the season.  After he left the game, Billy Sadler came in and gave up a two run home run that ended up putting the game out of reach for the Giants.

Aaron Rowand had a two run home run for the Giants in the second inning and then in the third inning, Misch laid down a sacrafice bunt that the Giants threw away that allowed John Bowker to score.

The Giants will try to get a split in the series as they play the Astros Thursday afternoon.

Matt Cain hit a solo home run off of Houston Astros starting pitcher Brad Backe as the Giants beat the Astros 4-2.  Cain was able to the long ball and also shut down a red hot Lance Berkman who only had one hit in the game.

Cain improved to 2-3 on the season with the victory.  He tossed eight inning as he gave up seven hits and only two runs.  Both runs came from Carlos Lee on a rbi single and then a solo home run.  Good thing that home run was only a solo shot or things could have been a lot different in the game.

Brian Wilson pitched the ninth inning to record his 12th save of the season.

Besides Cain’s solo home run, two other Giants players had a rbi in the game.  Omar Vizquel and Randy Winn both had rbi doubles in the first inning when the Giants put up three runs.  Winn later scored on a passed ball for the third run.

Atleast it wasn’t another lose for the Barry Zito I guess we can say.  Zito pitched six innings of seven hit and three run baseball against the Chicago White Sox on Monday night as the Giants lost 7-3.  Zito really only made one mistake in the game and that was on a two run home run by Lance Berkman.

Vinnie Chulk ended up taking the loss for the Giants as he pitched an inning of relief and gave up two hits and one run.  Merkin Valdez also struggled out of the bullpen as he only recorded one out and gave up two hits and three runs.  Only one of those three runs were earned however as two errors later in the inning scored two runs.

John Bowker had a solo home run which was the fourth of the season for him as he finished the game with one rbi.  Fred Lewis and Omar Vizquel also had one rbi in the game.

Had it not been for the two errors in the eighth inning, the Giants would have had a lot better chance at coming back in the ninth inning.  Four runs in one inning is just to much for this Giants offense to come back from in my opinion.  What do you think Giants fans?  Giants Blog

The San Francisco Giants were swept in a three game series by the Pittsburgh Pirates as they lost 5-4 on Thursday afternoon.  Right now the Giants are just playing terrible baseball and their record shows that as they are 14-21 on the season.

Matt Cain took the loss for the Giants as he pitched 6 1/3 innings and gave up five runs.  Cain was not his usual self against the Pirates as he gave up the five runs and nine hits.

Steve Holm had two rbi to lead the Giants at the plate.  Emmanuel Burriss and Cain had one rbi each as well in the game.

I don’t see things getting better for the Giants after this series.  They are going to continue to struggle as they just don’t have the caliber of players that other teams in the league do to win two our of three games all the time in a series.

What do you think Giants fans?  Is the Giants season over before it really even got started?
