Going back to a 12 man staff, the Giants optioned utility man Eugenio Velez to Fresno and recalled right handed reliever Osiris Matos.  Velez was hitting .154 this year in sparse play.  The optioning should give him some time to stay fresh with the stick.  Matos, who had a nice run last year with the parent club, had an ERA of 1.04 in eight outings.
