It was a bad night at the ballpark for the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night as they were “rocked” by the Rockies. The Rockies had no problems beating up on the Giants as they won the game by the score of 15-6. With one more win in the series, the Rockies will have swept the Giants in the three game series.

Jonathan Sanchez and Kevin Correia were both charged with seven hits and seven runs in the game. Sanchez gave up one home run while Correia served up two long blasts. Sanchez was the losing pitcher and his record for 2008 dropped to 9-12. Osiris Matos also gave up one run in the game as he pitched in between Sanchez and Correia.

Billy Sadler, Tyler Walker, and Geno Espineli all pitched one inning of scoreless relief but by that time the Rockies were so far ahead the offense didn’t have a chance to come back.

Six different Giants players had one rbi each in the game as it was a balanced scoring effort. They just didn’t come up with big innings like the Rockies were able to. John Bowker hit a solo home run for his rbi Pablo Sandoval, Bengie Molina, and Eugenio Velez all had rbi singles. Nate Schierholtz had a rbi double while Sanchez had a rbi groundout in the game.

The Giants have to win on Thursday night now to avoid the three game sweep at home to the Rockies. I would really like to see the Giants close out the 2008 season on a high note, but I just don’t think they are going to as they have one game left against the Rockies and then a three game series with the Dodgers.

Barry Zito lost his 12th game of the season as the Chicago Cubs came in to San Francisco and beat the Giants by the score 9-2.  Zito struggled right away in the game as the Cubs had base runners every inning.  Zito could have given up a lot more runs in the game but the Cubs left 24 runners on base. It is still sad to see Zito pitch the way he is right now.  A 3-12 record for Zito and he is making all that kind of money and not really earning it.

Billy Sadler didn’t have a very good night either as he was charged with four runs in the eighth inning.  Salder gave up a grand slam to the Cubs third basemen Mark DeRosa in the game.  DeRosa had earlier taken Zito deep for a two run home run.

The Giants tried to rally in the ninth inning but when you are down nine runs more then likely you aren’t going to score enough to tie or win the game. The Giants were able to get to runs in the ninth inning when Rich Aurilia doubled off Kerry Wood to score two runs.  The Giants were able to get runners on base off Ted Lilly who was attempting to throw a complete game against the Giants.  The Cubs then called in Wood who gave up the double, then a walk, before recording the final out of the game.

Matt Cain will try to beat the Cubs on Tuesday night as they two teams face off once again.  Giants Blog

The San Francisco Giants were going for a rare road sweep on Thursday night but they were not able to do it as the Cleveland Indians beat them by the score of 4-1.  The Giants batters struck out 11 times in the game and left another 11 runners on base as they couldn’t get any big hits against Indians starter Cliff Lee.

Matt Cain dropped to 4-6 on the season after he tossed five innings and gave up eight hits and four runs.  Cain struggled out there on the mound as he could never get into a rhythm.  After Cain exited the game the Giants bullpen did a really good job however.

Alex Hinshaw, Billy Sadler, and Sergio Romo all pitched an inning out of the bullpen and not one of them gave up a hit.  They kept the team within striking distance but the offense never did get around to scoring any runs late in the game.

The one run for the Giants camein the fourth inning when Rich Aurilia singled in Aaron Rowand.  Besides that rbi single from Aurilia the Giants only had three other hits in the game.

For the second straight game the San Francisco Giants lost to the Detroit Tigers.  On Wednesday, the Giants suffered a 7-2 loss to the Tigers.  The Giants pitchers had problems as the Tigers kept pressure on them the first five innings of the game by scoring runs four out of the first five innings.

Barry Zito struggled once again and only lasted two innings.  Zito gave up five hits and five runs while walking four to take the loss.  Zito is now a very dissapointing 2-11 on the season and it doesn’t look like he is going to turn it around any time soon.

Billy Sadler gave up one run while pitching the third and fourth innings.  Alex Hinshaw pitched the next two innings and gave up one run as well.  Finally Jack Taschner, Keiichi Yabu, and Vinnie Chulk threw scoreless innings in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings.

It was pretty funny how the Giants scored their first run in the game.  In the second inning, Armando Galarraga threw wild pitch that struckout Brian Horwitz.  However, Travis Denker was on third and scored on the wild pitch.  The second run of the game in the sixth inning Emmanuel Burriss reached on an infield single and Steve Holm scored on a throwing error by Tigers third basemen Carlos Guillen.

Yeah the Giants scored two runs and didn’t even have a rbi.  That is not the correct way to score runs lol.  No wonder why the lost.

The San Francisco Giants gave up two runs in the eighth inning and then two more runs in the ninth inning as they lost to the Detroit Tigers by the score of 5-1.  You can’t give up late runs like that in close games if you expect to win.  Bad last two innings that hopefully they team will remember next time they are in that situation.

Jonathan Sanchez had a no hitter going through the first five innings but then gave up a hit in the sixth inning.  Sanchez would eventually pitch seven innings and give up three runs and take the loss for the Giants.  Sanchez droppes his record to 6-4 with the loss.

Billy Sadler threw the eighth inning after he came in for Sanchez who had just given up a home run and single to start the inning.  Salder then gave up a run on a fielder choice.  (The run would be charged to Sanchez).  Vinnie Chulk came into the game to give up two more runs in the ninth inning that extended the Tigers lead to four.

The lone run for the Giants came off the bat of Bengie Molina in the sixth inning when he hit a sacrafice fly that scored Fred Lewis.  The Giants had their chances to score some runs in the game as they had nine hits but they just couldn’t get the job done.

The San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies combined for 17 runs at Coors field in Denver, and there was only one home run hit in the game!  The Giants were able to defeat the Rockies by the score of 10-7 and avoid the three game sweep in the series.

Fred Lewis hit the only home run in the game when he went deep in the second inning with a three run shot.  Other then that, it was a bunch of rbi singles pretty much for the Giants.  Rich Aurilia also had three rbi in the game to tie Lewis for the game lead.  Ray Durham finished the game with two rbi while Emmanuel Burriss and Jonathan Sanchez both had one rbi.

Sanchez got the win on the mound for the Giants and is now 6-3 on the season. Sanchez threw five innings and gave up nine hits and seven runs.  Usually Sanchez would have got a loss in the game as he gave up seven runs, but thankfully for him and the Giants, the offense was on top of their game and put ten runs on the board.

Billy Sadler, Jack Taschner, Keiichi Yabu, Tyler Walker, and Brian Wilson should all be congratulated because they held off the Rockies over the final four innings of the game.  They were the real game winners if you ask me.  Wilson notched his 19th save of the season in the game as well.

The Giants will now play the Oakland A’s in a interleague Bay Area matchup.  Hopefully a lot of you will be able to attend the games and root on the Giants!

The San Francisco Giants came out of the gates swinging on Monday night as they scored six runs in the first inning.  The Giants hit two home runs in the first inning as they knocked New York Mets starting pitcher Oliver Perez out of the game after he only recorded one out in the first inning.  The Giants went onto beat the Mets by the score of 10-2.

Randy Winn and Brian Horwitz both went deep in the first inning as the Giants pushed across six runs.  Horwitz’s home run was the first of his career.  Ray Durham and Horwitz led the Giants with three rbi each in the game.  They were followed by Jonathan Sanchez who recorded two rbi.  Winn and Bengie Molina both chipped in with one rbi each as well.

On the mound for the Giants, it was Sanchez throwing seven innings and picking up the win.  Sanchez is now 4-3 on the season after he gave up six hits and two runs over the seven innings of action.  Billy Sadler came in and pitched the final two innings of the game and didn’t have any problems.

The San Francisco Giants were more less dead until the ninth inning when they scored two runs against the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday afternoon.  After the Giants tied the game at two and forced the game into extra innings, they scored another run in the tenth inning and went onto beat the Rockies 3-2.

The Giants got on the board with a rbi single by Bengie Molina in the ninth inning and then scored another run in the inning when Steve Holm hit a rbi double to tie the game.  In the tenth inning, Omar Vizquel hit a sacrafice fly to score Ray Durham for the winning run.

Tyler Walker picked up the win to improve his record to 2-2 on the season.  Brian Wilson didn’t have trouble closing out the game like last night notched the save which was his 14th of the season.

Starting pitcher Jonathan Sanchez lasted 6 1/3 innings while he gave up eight hits and two runs to get the no decision.   Billy Sadler and Alex Hinshaw both pitched in relief and did not allow a hit.

Great come from behind win for the Giants.  That is exactly what the needed!  Giants Blog

The San Francisco Giants lost the first game of a three game series to the Colorado Rockies on Monday night.  The Rockies scored three runs in the sixth inning to go ahead and beat the Giants 4-3.

Patrick Misch pitched 5 1/3 innings and gave up five hits and three runs.  Misch took the loss as his record dropped to 0-1 on the season.  Vinnie Chulk gave up one run in the game as he pitched the final two outs of the sixth inning.  Billy Sadler and Alex Hinshaw pitched the seventh and eighth innings without any problems.

Randy Winn had two rbi for the Giants as he led them at the plate.  Winn had a solo home run in the first inning and then a sac fly in the third inning.  The other Giants run came in the sixth inning when Rich Aurilia had a rbi single.

The Giants will try to come back and beat the Rockies on Tuesday.  They really need to pick up the win tomorrow.  Giants Blog

The San Francisco Giants lost to the Houston Astrosn 6-3 on Wednesday night as the Giants pitchers couldn’t slow down three Astros batters.  Lance Berkman, Brad Ausmus, and Miguel Tejada all had two rbi against Giants pitchers.  Three different Giants pitchers gave up runs in the game as well.

Patrick Misch tossed six innings of seven hit baseball to start the game.  He did allow three runs including one home run in the game as he got the no decision.  Jack Taschner pitched 2/3 of an inning in relief of Misch and allowed one run to score as he took the loss. Taschner is now 1-2 on the season.  After he left the game, Billy Sadler came in and gave up a two run home run that ended up putting the game out of reach for the Giants.

Aaron Rowand had a two run home run for the Giants in the second inning and then in the third inning, Misch laid down a sacrafice bunt that the Giants threw away that allowed John Bowker to score.

The Giants will try to get a split in the series as they play the Astros Thursday afternoon.
