Barry Zito and the San Francisco Giants finished up a four game series with the Atlanta Braves on Monday afternoon with a 5-0 victory. The Giants took three out of four games against the Braves in the series to improve their record to 53-71 on the season.

Zito who pitched seven innings won for just the third time since the all star break and is now 7-15 on the year. Zito gave up five hits while walking two and striking out three Braves hitters. Keiichi Yabu and Sergio Romo each pitched an inning of relief to combine with Zito on the shutout.

The Giants got on the scoreboard right away as they pushed across three runs in the first inning. Rich Aurilia and Pablo Sandoval both had rbi singles while Aaron Rowand had a rbi sac fly. The Giants were then held scoreless until the sixth inning when Rowand hit a solo home run. The team got another run in the seventh inning when Dave Roberts walked with the bases loaded.

The Giants will now start up a series on Tuesday night with the Florida Marlins.

What a disappointing showing for the Giants offense on Tuesday night as they were shut out by the Los Angeles Dodgers.  The 2-0 loss evened up the three game series and now the two teams will play the rubber match on Wednesday to se who will win the series.

Matt Cain threw the ball good for the Giants he just didnt’ get any run support.  Cain gave up eight hits but only two runs in seven innings of action.  Cain did not walk a batter and struck out eight Dodgers.  It is really too bad he had to take the loss and fall to 6-9 on the year.

Randy Winn and Rich Aurilia both had two hits to lead the Giants at the plate.  Aaron Rowand had the other hit and that was all the offense there was for the Giants.

Rich Aurilia and Omar Vizquel both hit doubles in the 8th inning as the San Francisco Giants came from behind to beat the Washington Nationals 6-4.  Aurilia’s two run double put the Giants ahead by one run and then Vizquel knocked in Aurlia to put the Giants by two runs.  The Giants have now beaten the Nationals the first two games of the three game series and will be looking for the sweep on Thursday afternoon.

Giants starting pitcher Kevin Correia did not have a very good game as he gave up 12 hits and four runs in only 5 2/3 innings.  The bullpen did a great job however as they held the Nationals to those four runs the rest of the game.  Alex Hinshaw, Osiris Matos, E Espineli, and Brian Wilson all pitched out of th pen. Espineli ended up getting the win while Wilson picked up his 27th save.

To go along with Aurilia’s two rbi, Bengie Molina also had two rbi.  Both of his rbi came on two seperate doubles in the 1st and 5th innings.  Aaron Rowand also had a rbi double in the 1st inning for the Giants.  The Giants weren’t hitting the long ball but they sure hit plenty of doubles to score some runs.

Root on the Giants Thursday afternoon as they play the Nationals once more and will be trying for the three game sweep!  Giants Baseball Blog

Barry Zito lost his 12th game of the season as the Chicago Cubs came in to San Francisco and beat the Giants by the score 9-2.  Zito struggled right away in the game as the Cubs had base runners every inning.  Zito could have given up a lot more runs in the game but the Cubs left 24 runners on base. It is still sad to see Zito pitch the way he is right now.  A 3-12 record for Zito and he is making all that kind of money and not really earning it.

Billy Sadler didn’t have a very good night either as he was charged with four runs in the eighth inning.  Salder gave up a grand slam to the Cubs third basemen Mark DeRosa in the game.  DeRosa had earlier taken Zito deep for a two run home run.

The Giants tried to rally in the ninth inning but when you are down nine runs more then likely you aren’t going to score enough to tie or win the game. The Giants were able to get to runs in the ninth inning when Rich Aurilia doubled off Kerry Wood to score two runs.  The Giants were able to get runners on base off Ted Lilly who was attempting to throw a complete game against the Giants.  The Cubs then called in Wood who gave up the double, then a walk, before recording the final out of the game.

Matt Cain will try to beat the Cubs on Tuesday night as they two teams face off once again.  Giants Blog

The San Francisco Giants were going for a rare road sweep on Thursday night but they were not able to do it as the Cleveland Indians beat them by the score of 4-1.  The Giants batters struck out 11 times in the game and left another 11 runners on base as they couldn’t get any big hits against Indians starter Cliff Lee.

Matt Cain dropped to 4-6 on the season after he tossed five innings and gave up eight hits and four runs.  Cain struggled out there on the mound as he could never get into a rhythm.  After Cain exited the game the Giants bullpen did a really good job however.

Alex Hinshaw, Billy Sadler, and Sergio Romo all pitched an inning out of the bullpen and not one of them gave up a hit.  They kept the team within striking distance but the offense never did get around to scoring any runs late in the game.

The one run for the Giants camein the fourth inning when Rich Aurilia singled in Aaron Rowand.  Besides that rbi single from Aurilia the Giants only had three other hits in the game.

The San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies combined for 17 runs at Coors field in Denver, and there was only one home run hit in the game!  The Giants were able to defeat the Rockies by the score of 10-7 and avoid the three game sweep in the series.

Fred Lewis hit the only home run in the game when he went deep in the second inning with a three run shot.  Other then that, it was a bunch of rbi singles pretty much for the Giants.  Rich Aurilia also had three rbi in the game to tie Lewis for the game lead.  Ray Durham finished the game with two rbi while Emmanuel Burriss and Jonathan Sanchez both had one rbi.

Sanchez got the win on the mound for the Giants and is now 6-3 on the season. Sanchez threw five innings and gave up nine hits and seven runs.  Usually Sanchez would have got a loss in the game as he gave up seven runs, but thankfully for him and the Giants, the offense was on top of their game and put ten runs on the board.

Billy Sadler, Jack Taschner, Keiichi Yabu, Tyler Walker, and Brian Wilson should all be congratulated because they held off the Rockies over the final four innings of the game.  They were the real game winners if you ask me.  Wilson notched his 19th save of the season in the game as well.

The Giants will now play the Oakland A’s in a interleague Bay Area matchup.  Hopefully a lot of you will be able to attend the games and root on the Giants!

The San Francisco Giants brough out the whooping sticks on Wednesday night as the pounded the Arizona Diamondbacks 11-3.  The Giants used back to back four run innings in the fifth and sixth innings to really blow the game wide open.

Ray Durham went 2-5 with four rbi to lead the Giants at the plate.  Durham went deep for a solo home run in the second inning.  Then hit a triple with the bases loaded in the sixth inning to score three more runs.  Bengie Molina, Aaron Rowand, and Emmanuel Burriss all had two rbi in the game as well.  Not to be left out, Rich Aurilia also had one rbi.

Jonathan Sanchez got the win and is now 3-3 on the season.  Sanchez tossed six innings while giving upi six hits and two runs.  Good outing for Sanchez who really needed to have a good game on the mound.  Jack Taschner then pitched a scoreless seventh inning before Vinnie Chulk gave up a run in the eight inning.  Alex Hinshaw was brought in to record the final two outs of the game.

The Giants and Diamondbacks will be play once again on Thursday afternoon.

The San Francisco Giants held off the fiesty Colorado Rockies to win 6-5 on Tuesday night in Denver, Colorado.  Great road win for the Giants as they win a close one against the Rockies.

Tim Lincecum improved to 6-1 as he picked up the win.  Lincecum pitched six inning and allowed five hits and three runs.  He did walk four batters and struck out six others.  Lincecum now has a 2.17 era on the season as he has been throwing the ball very good.

Brian Wilson had some trouble in the ninth inning as he tried to close out the game.  Wilson gave up three hits and two runs but was finally able to get the last out of the game and get his 13th save of the season.

Rich Aurilia and Fred Lewis both hit home runs for the Giants in the game.  Aurilia had a solo shot in the second inning and Lewis had a solo shot in the ninth inning.  Aaron Rowand actually led the Giants with two rbi’s in the game as he had two rbi singles.  Bengie Molina, Omar Vizquel, Aurilia, and Lewis all had one rbi in the game.

The San Francisco Giants lost the first game of a three game series to the Colorado Rockies on Monday night.  The Rockies scored three runs in the sixth inning to go ahead and beat the Giants 4-3.

Patrick Misch pitched 5 1/3 innings and gave up five hits and three runs.  Misch took the loss as his record dropped to 0-1 on the season.  Vinnie Chulk gave up one run in the game as he pitched the final two outs of the sixth inning.  Billy Sadler and Alex Hinshaw pitched the seventh and eighth innings without any problems.

Randy Winn had two rbi for the Giants as he led them at the plate.  Winn had a solo home run in the first inning and then a sac fly in the third inning.  The other Giants run came in the sixth inning when Rich Aurilia had a rbi single.

The Giants will try to come back and beat the Rockies on Tuesday.  They really need to pick up the win tomorrow.  Giants Blog

The San Francisco Giants got hammered by the Pittsburgh Pirates 12-6 on Tuesday night.  Usually when the Giants score six runs you would expect them to win the game but that was not the case against the Pirates.

Jonathan Sanchez only lasted 4 1/3 innings as he gave up six hits and seven runs.  Sanchez walked three batters, struck out four batters, and gave up two home runs.  Terrible performance by Sanchez.

Brad Hennessey wasn’t any better then Sanchez as he pitched in relief.  Hennessey gave up seven hits and five runs in only 2 1/3 innings.

Jose Castillo came up with the biggest hit for the Giants as he hit a three run home run in the eighth inning.  John Bowker, Rich Aurilia, and Dan Ortmeier all had one RBI each.
